So you just started your new blog and you are exited at the fact of writing content online and making money from that, or just wanting to help people or just like to write and give out free info to the people. What are some do’s and don’ts when starting a new blog? What should you do from the very start of the blog and what should you avoid all together? I have been blogging for one year now and I have made a lot of mistakes and regrets some things that I should have done a long time ago. I can tell you today if I had started a blog today, I would do anything different and gotten more traffic sooner than later. Let’s dive into this post shall we. The first thing you should do pick a topic to write about and stick with it forever and don’t change that topic or let the blog die:
Pick a topic that you know a lot about first of all. When I first started blogging or just buying domain names online, I had some many domain names that I at time I was thinking of building online stores and these blogs that will make a lot of money. For example I brought a domain name called sixskulls.com which I was thinking about building some type of store that sells skulls online. If I would have put in the time on that site, it would have made me money. But I didn’t put forth the energy needed to get that site rolling. So I brought another domain name called cleavergambler.com which this was going to be me blog talking about gambling and selling products on clickbank and other type of products. But I didn’t write the content cause I was not into gambling at all so it was hard to write that type of content and gambling in general is a slippery slope with laws in different states. But If I would have took the time and produce good content on that site, by this time today that site would have made me money.
I wasted so much time with ideas and thought of making money rather than working to make the money. So in the beginning buy one domain name that is easy to understand and easy to remember, produce content on that site everyday if you can, make a posting schedule that you can follow per week. Right now I produce 3 blog post per week and will stick with that for a long time, pretty much forever. This is the best tip on what to do now if you don’t post content on your blog well that will destroy your site. Google will not index your site of much as if you were posting all the time, your readers won’t return as much knowing that you have not posting anything in a while and Google lover fresh new content, it just makes sense to posting more often. The more content you post, the more traffic you will get cause Google has more content from you to rank for. So if I have 500 blog posts and you have 100 post, who will get more traffic over time? I will cause I have more post that google can rank for so produce content and more content like Gary Vee.
